Me: Hi dad, hi mom, I would like to take a gap year and travel around the USA with Cody.

Mom: Where would you find the money to go on road trip for twelve months if you are not getting a job?

Dad: What if you get bored and decided to move back home?

Me: Mom, I have enough savings in my account to last a few weeks. After that, I will use up the $2,000 that Cody's aunt gave us for the honeymoon. Dad, road trip is the furthest thing from boring!

Dad: Two thousand dollars will not be enough to cover all expenses. Your gap year would have to take another form.

Mom: Why don't you try to learn useful practical skills instead of city hopping?

Me: Finding my way in new states is a practical skill! Reading map is a practical skill as well.

Mom: No, I meant you should take up a new language or learn flower arranging or a new instrument.

Me: I can do that by befriending people I meet on the streets.

Dad: Talking to random strangers is dangerous, Inef. Are you sure you can take care of yourself?

Me: I am almost 23!

Dad: But you are just barely out of college and have no idea of how cruel the world can be to inexperienced younglings.

Me: That is why I am bringing Cody with me. He is 26 and will be my protector.

Dad: Okay, but I want you to go straight to where you are now if things go wrong. Text me or call your mom on a regular basis.

Me: Yeay! Thank you, everyone. I will not betray you by going wild.
